Vegan Diet is Also Healthier for Carnivores

D: I read some good news on the internet. It says that tigers also need to eat plant-based food. Many people think that carnivores cannot be vegetarians. They think tigers cannot eat grass.

​Actually, all those concepts are incorrect, because based on the research, no matter how much an animal eats meat, its body still needs rough fiber. In the wild, many carnivores actually look for grass to eat. But in the zoo, as people only feed them meat. They cannot find any grass to eat, so these carnivores nibble on the fur of their bodies.

SM: Oh, god!       

D: If we could understand animal’s language, we would probably hear their screams for some grass.

SM: Yes, yes!

D: Some research has already shown that feeding those carnivores some vegetarian food is not harmful to them nor will it reduce their digestive capacity. On the contrary, feeding them some vegetarian food is actually good  for their health.

Recently, a multi-vitamin fortified additive has been developed for the big captive carnivores  of the feline family. They add some plant-based nutritious ingredients to the additive. Based on the result of their experiment, the additive is not harmful to the carnivores. It’s actually very beneficial to their health. They just started it. To promote this new additive.

SM: To promote the vegetarian food.

D: They haven't found any adverse effects so far.       

SM: Of course not. A pure vegetarian diet would be healthier for them. Right! moreover, they’ll have less chance of getting sick.       

D: Yes. Therefore, feeding the animals vegetarian food is very beneficial.       

SM: It has been recorded that many tigers and lions don’t eat meat. In Yogananda’s book, there are also some stories like this. I can tell you something about my dogs. Of course, I give them a lot of fresh vegetables, but whenever they go out, they still look for grass to eat. They eat grass, understand?

Cats are also like that. Sometimes people who raise a cat, if they know a lot about cats, they’d buy pots of grass for their cat to eat. There is special kind of grass grown in pots for sale to people who raise cats. Those who have this knowledge would often buy that potted grass and feed the grass to the cats. After one pot is finished, they buy another one. It is like that.

If you don’t give grass to the cat, when it goes out, it will look for grass to eat. I’ve seen my neighbor’s animals look for grass to eat. Chickens and ducks also eat grass.

When I was in Austria, I saw at a lake that many little ducks went to the bank of the lake to look for the grass to eat. So, do not say that animals don’t understand things- they understand better than us. They have no choice, so they have to eat meat.

If you feed them vegetarian food, they will become vegetarian, no problem. Later on, even if if you feed them meat they won’t want it.

D: Con đọc thấy một số tin vui trên mạng điện toán. Nói rằng cọp cũng cần ăn thực phẩm bằng thực vật. Nhiều người tưởng rằng "loài ăn thịt" không thể ăn chay. Họ tưởng cọp không thể ăn cỏ.

SP: Thật ra, tất cả quan niệm đó đều không đúng, bởi vì dựa trên nghiên cứu, bất kể thú vật ăn bao nhiêu thịt, cơ thể của họ vẫn cần chất sợi thô. Trong hoang dã, nhiều thú ăn thịt thật sự tìm cỏ để ăn. Nhưng trong thảo cầm viên, người ta chỉ cho ăn thịt. Thú vật không tìm ra cỏ đề ăn, cho nên những loài vật ăn thịt này sẽ gặm lông trên thân thể họ.

SP: Ôi, Chúa ơi!

D: Nếu chúng ta hiểu được ngôn ngữ loài vật, chúng ta có lẽ sẽ nghe họ kêu gào xin cỏ.

SP: Phải, phải.

D: Một số nghiên cứu đã cho thấy rằng: cho những loại ăn thịt đó một số thức ăn chay không có hại gì cho họ mà cũng không giảm đi khả năng tiêu hóa của họ. Ngược lại, cho thú vật ăn một số thức ăn chay thật ra tốt cho sức khỏe của họ. 

Gần đây, một loại phụ gia bổ sung đa sinh tố đã được phát minh cho loài ăn thịt lớn con thuộc họ mèo sống trong chuồng. Họ cộng thêm một số thành phần thực vật bơ đường vào chất phụ gia. Dựa trên kết quả thử nghiệm của họ, chất phụ gia này không có hại cho loài ăn thịt, mà thật sự rất hữu ích cho sức khỏe loài vật. Họ chỉ mới bắt đầu, đề xướng loại phụ gia mới nầy.

SP: Đề xướng thức ăn chay. Phải.

D: Họ chưa tìm thấy có ảnh hưởng bất lợi nào.

SP: Dĩ nhiên là không. Lối ăn chay thuần khiết sẽ lành mạnh hơn cho loài vật. Đúng vậy. Hơn nữa họ sẽ bớt đi nguy cơ bệnh hoạn.

D: Dạ phải. Do đó, cho thú vật ăn thức ăn chay rất hữu ích.

SP: Đã có ghi chép rằng nhiều cọp và sư tử không ăn thịt. Trong sách của Yogananda, cũng có một số chuyện như vậy. Tôi có thể kể quý vị nghe vài điều về chó của tôi. Dĩ nhiên, tôi cho họ rất nhiều rau cải tươi, nhưng mỗi khi đi ra ngoài, họ vẫn tìm cỏ để ăn. Họ ăn cỏ, hiểu không?

Mèo cũng vậy. Đôi khi, người ta nuôi mèo, nếu họ biết nhiều về mèo, họ mua những chậu cỏ cho mèo họ ăn. Có một loại cỏ đặc biệt trồng trong chậu bán cho người nuôi mèo. Những người có kiến thức này thường sẽ mua cỏ trồng trong chậu đó cho mèo ăn. Sau khi ăn hết một chậu, họ mua một chậu nữa. Là như vậy.​

Nếu quý vị không cho mèo ăn cỏ, khi ra ngoài nó sẽ tìm cỏ để ăn. Tôi thấy thú vật của láng giềng tôi tìm cỏ để ăn. Gà vịt cũng ăn cỏ.

Lúc ở Áo, tôi thấy tại một hồ nước có nhiều vịt con đi đến bờ hồ để tìm cỏ ăn. Cho nên, đừng nói rằng loài vật không hiểu gì. Họ hiểu nhiều hơn chúng ta. Họ không có chọn lựa cho nên phải ăn thịt.

Nếu quý vị cho họ thức ăn chay, họ sẽ ăn trường chay. Không vấn đề gì. Sau đó, cho dù quý vị có cho ăn thịt, họ sẽ không muốn.
